Where there is one good rustic cabinet…there are many! Just 2 weeks after finding the cabinet I put in the 2nd floor alcove (you can see it here), I went back to my favorite Home Goods store (in Kingston NY) looking for baskets…and I came across this:
It was not as inexpensive as the last one…but it was not bad at $869 plus $120 for delivery…
This rustic cabinet is solid wood, very heavy and it has beautiful glass doors. The finish is very distressed with small patches of dark navy, brown and a tiny bit of green…
I like the fact that it is dark wood, because it will layer well with the farm table I plan on buying which is on the light side…and I don’t want any of the dining room furniture to match, just complement each other…
For now I will use it as a sideboard in the dining room to store all the dinnerware, wine glasses and water pitchers etc…we don’t use everyday…
Here is the before and after:
Nice job Emily, I LOVE it!! The sideboard is divine, and that picture/chandelier complement it beautifully. Can’t wait to see the room completed!
Re WordPress, yep I would recommend it overall. I’ve had a few hiccups when they’ve upgraded the user interface, but they’re always sorted out pretty quickly. I don’t really know what I’m talking about though – don’t even have my own webmaster or whatever yet, it’s on the list of things to do this year…yikes.

That beautiful rustic cabinet is a great find!! It looks especially good with the wonderful horse print above it! I look forward to watching your dining room come together!
Thanks Lisa,
